Amanda Western

Amanda Western explores the interplay between humanity and the environment through both contemporary and traditional printmaking. Drawing
inspiration from her experiences living in regional and remote Australian communities, including Torres Strait islands and the Victorian Pyrenees
Ranges, Amanda’s artwork reflects the solace she finds in nature.
Previously an Emergency Recovery professional, Amanda witnessed the transformative power of art in helping people heal from trauma. Faced with
her own personal loss, Amanda embraced linocut printmaking through studying Visual Arts at Oxygen College in Ballarat.

Now dedicated full-time to her art practice, Amanda also volunteers as a grant writer for Conservation Without Borders. Amanda received the 2023 Ballarat Arts Foundation’s Visual and Performing Arts Award and serves on the Print Council of Australia’s Committee of Management. Her work includes solo and group exhibitions, large-scale murals, and she is a finalist in the 2024 SunshineCoast National Art Prize, 2024 Stanthorpe Art Prize, the 2024 Hornsby Prize and the international Artists for Conservation 2024 Annual Juried Exhibition.
